APPLY FOR AN AMALGAMATED BANK PERSONAL ACCOUNT ONLINE

To ensure that your experience is a smooth and satisfactory one, please read the following information carefully.

The online application process should take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. Please make sure you have enough time to go through the entire process. If you exit this process before completion, you will need to start the process again.

You can access your account information over the Internet by subscribing to AmalgamatedOnlineTM, our free Internet Banking service.

  • If you are an existing customer who is currently enrolled in AmalgamatedOnlineTM, please login to open an account.
  • If you are an existing customer who is not currently enrolled in AmalgamatedOnlineTM, you can enroll through our web site after completing the account opening process. Simply go back to our home page and click on the "Login to AmalgamatedOnlineTM" link.
  • If you are a brand-new customer, you will receive additional information about enrollment in AmalgamatedOnlineTM after your account application has been approved.
REQUIREMENTS TO COMPLETE THIS PROCESS
  • A personal computer running Microsoft Windows with Internet access
  • A web browser that supports 128-bit SSL encryption (for example, Microsoft Internet Explorer Version 5.0 (or later) and Netscape Navigator Version 7.0 (or later) are acceptable)
  • Adobe® Acrobat® Reader® version 6.0 or higher (If you wish to download Adobe Acrobat for free now, please click here.)
  • A printer connection to your PC to print the disclosure and required signature cards (or sufficient hard drive space available to save the disclosure)

Part of the application process will require you to send us certain documentation (for example, a completed and signed signature card for each account you wish to open, and a copy of your identification). Once we receive and review this documentation, we will contact you via email and U.S. Mail to update you on the status of your account(s). If you do not send these documents to us, we will not be able to open your account.

In order to apply for an account online, you must have a US address. (A Post Office Box is not acceptable as a US address.) If you are an existing Amalgamated Bank customer who lives overseas and you are registered for AmalgamatedOnlineTM, please login to open an account. If you are not registered for AmalgamatedOnlineTM, contact us at Acct_Info@amalgamatedbank.com to find out about opening an additional account. Please note: all account applicants currently living overseas must be existing Amalgamated Bank customers.

ACCOUNT OPTIONS AND OWNERSHIP

This process is designed to open the following types of personal accounts (click on the links below to get more information about these accounts):

These personal (non-business) accounts can be opened by one person, or two persons jointly, with a right of survivorship. If you are opening a Statement Savings account or a USAVE Time Deposit, you can name one beneficiary.

If you wish to open multiple accounts, you will need to complete one application per account. If you are opening a Checking account, please open that account first.

If you would like to open any other type of personal account, please contact your local branch.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT OPENING A NEW ACCOUNT

To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify and record information that identifies each person who opens an account.

What this means for you: When you open an account with us, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver's license or other identifying documents.

INFORMATION YOU WILL NEED TO COMPLETE THIS PROCESS

Before you start the account opening process, please make sure you have the following information at hand for you and the joint party on your account (if applicable):

  • A primary piece of identification (click here for a list of acceptable identification)
  • Social Security Number
  • Date and place of birth
  • Mother's maiden name
  • Home address and telephone number
  • E-mail address
  • Employer name, address and telephone number
  • Occupation
  • ABA routing number and bank account number from an existing account at another financial institution (if you plan to fund your account in this manner)
  • Existing Amalgamated Bank account number (if you plan to transfer funds from an existing account with us)
  • Existing Amalgamated Bank Debit or ATM Cards (if you would like to add your new account(s) to your existing cards)

If you will be opening a Statement Savings account or a USAVE® Time Deposit and would like to name a beneficiary, please make sure you have the following information at hand for this person:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Home phone number
  • Date and place of birth
  • Social Security Number
