Tim Clifford has overall responsibility for Amalgamated Capital – the leveraged lending division of Amalgamated Bank, which is focused on providing senior debt financing to smaller middle market companies, sponsored by private equity firms. 

Prior to joining Amalgamated Bank, Mr. Clifford was a Managing Director and Principal at Churchill Financial and also served as Head of the firm’s Boston office.  In that position, he was responsible for originating senior cash flow loans and subordinated debt along with equity co-investments to middle market, private equity backed companies. In 2004, he formed the Leveraged Finance Group at Comerica Bank and served as Senior Vice President and Group Head until 2006. From 1999 to 2004, he served as Managing Director of the Financial Sponsor Group at Fleet Securities (now Bank of America), where he originated and structured leveraged financings and M&A activities, including cash flow and asset-based loans along with junior capital such as mezzanine and high yield debt.  Prior to Fleet, Mr. Clifford was a Director with Bank Boston’s Middle Market Division and began his banking career in loan workout at Bank of New England.

Mr. Clifford earned his MBA from The F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College and receieved his BS in Business Administration cum laude from Southern New Hampshire University.
