Timothy Clifford

Head of Amalgamated Capital

Timothy Clifford founded Amalgamated Capital in September, 2009 and serves as Executive Vice President and Division Head. In addition to managing the day-to-day business of AmalCap and leading originations, he also serves on the Credit and Strategic Planning Committees of Amalgamated Bank.

Prior to forming Amalgamated Capital, Tim was a Managing Director and Principal at Churchill Financial and also served as Head of the firm’s Boston office.  In that capacity, he was responsible for originating senior cash flow loans and subordinated debt along with equity co-investments to middle market, private equity backed companies. In 2004, he formed the Leveraged Finance Group at Comerica Bank and served as Senior Vice President and Group Head until 2006. From 1999 to 2004, he served as Managing Director of the Financial Sponsor Group at Fleet Securities (now Bank of America), where he originated and structured leveraged financings and M&A activities, including cash flow and asset-based loans along with junior capital investments of mezzanine and high yield debt.  Prior to Fleet, Tim was a Director with Bank Boston’s Middle Market Division and began his banking career in loan workout at Bank of New England.

Tim earned his MBA from The F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College and received his BS in Business Administration cum laude from Southern New Hampshire University.
