Meenoo Sameer

Senior Underwriter and Portfolio Management

Sameer joined the Amalgamated Capital team in August of 2010.

Sameer brings with him extensive experience across most commercial lending products, in managing credit through complete investment life cycles i.e. from Structuring to Exit. His underwriting experience includes hundreds of Cash Flow, Asset Based, Debtor-In-Possession, Plan-of-Reorganization, and Term Loan, and lease financings to mostly US borrowers. These transactions ranged in value from $25 million to $800 million across manufacturing, electronics, chemicals, refining, pipeline, mining, retail, distribution, food service, paper industries as well as sectors providing financial and other services. His expertise includes SBA and Export-Import financing programs.

Sameer started on his US career path by joining GE in 1996 as an Associate on the Corporate Audit Staff where he executed financial and consulting projects and led corporate initiatives across many different businesses and industries for GE globally.

In 1998, Sameer joined GE Money as an Account Executive and was responsible for evaluating, structuring, and managing private label credit card issuance for retailers across different industries. Entrusted with improving business processes, he introduced an Industry Assessment Template and Multi-variable Investment Sensitivity Analysis to streamline the deal approval process. He also designed and led a project to automate an antiquated financial performance reporting platform. Sameer managed a portfolio of over $350 million in retail investments.

In 2000, Sameer was promoted to a newly created role of Strategic Pricing Leader for GE Corporate Financial Services and became a member of the CEO’s growth council. In this assignment, he was responsible for market research, business intelligence, and strategic initiatives to enhance profitability across five different business platforms with over $15 billion in managed assets.

In 2001, Sameer joined the Corporate Lending group of GE Capital as an Underwriter and Portfolio Manager. In this assignment, he led evaluation, structuring, and managing of senior debt transactions for both private and public companies across various industries and debt products. He managed syndicated debt portfolio, and several agencies for over $800 million in investments.

In 2009, Sameer joined Focus Management Group’s turnaround consulting practice, helping companies retool their business strategy, improve both the EBITDA and their top line; Evaluate enterprise value as a going concern and as a sum of all asset classes to obtain additional capital (equity and/or debt), find strategic merger possibilities or spin-off non-core assets in developing and implementing a long term solution.

Sameer was recognized with several awards including ‘GE Imagine’ and ‘GE Impact’ Awards while at GE for his contribution to business objectives. He is also a certified six-sigma Green Belt.

Sameer acquired deep domain knowledge of Oil & Gas sector while working for Bharat Petroleum (ex. Shell Oil subsidiary) and Larsen & Toubro in India prior to his migration to the US.

Sameer earned a masters degree in Finance from The Carroll School of Management at Boston College. Earlier, he received an MBA from Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi University and a bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology – R, both ranked among top five schools in engineering and management respectively, in India.

Sameer invests up to 100 hours annually mentoring and promoting cultural diversity, and lives with his family in New York.
