Amalgamated Bank Names Keith Mestrich Director of its Washington, D.C. Banking Region
Amalgamated Bank has appointed Keith Mestrich Director of its Washington, D.C. region. In his new role Mr. Mestrich, a Senior Vice President, is responsible for the coordination of strategic initiatives in the nation’s capital and serves as the main contact for new and existing relationships with businesses, institutional clients, labor unions, not-for-profit associations and other progressive organizations.
Mr. Mestrich’s office and staff are located in Amalgamated’s Washington Headquarters at 1825 K Street, NW. Mr. Mestrich brings to Amalgamated expertise in managing the finances, administration and operations of major labor organizations.
In announcing the appointment, Amalgamated President and CEO Edward Grebow said, “We are very fortunate that Keith has agreed to bring his knowledge, organizational skills and strong passion about labor and labor issues to Amalgamated. He possesses an insider’s understanding of the financial situations that leaders and board members regularly face, and he has the insight and experience to assist them as they make decisions about banking and financial services as well as their organizations’ pension funds.”
Prior to joining Amalgamated, Mr. Mestrich was the Chief Financial Officer and Deputy Chief of Staff at the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) in Washington. During 2009, he served as Chief of Staff for SEIU’s Workers United Conference. In this position, he organized the initial structure of Workers United, which represents 100,000 members, and assisted in the affiliation of Workers United with SEIU.
He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Kalamazoo College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. Mr. Mestrich, his wife and three daughters live in Washington, D.C.
